‘Guilty in the world that we live in now,’ Alexander Zverev makes a strong statement on ATP investigations in Olya case

Alexander Zverev is one of the most talked out and controversial figures in contemporary tennis. The German, despite being one of the best players on tour, isn’t much popular amongst fans due to his illogical antics. He recently finished runner-up at the Madrid Masters, a tournament which he won last year. He lost to teenage sensation Carlos Alcaraz in the final in straight sets 3-6,1-6. Zverev is yet to win a title this season and has two runner-up finishes.
He played a good tournament in Madrid after heartbreak in Munich and defeated the likes of Marin Cilic, Lorenzo Musetti, Felix Auger Aliassime, and Stefanos Tsitsipas en route to his runner-up finish. The German hasn’t had an easy season so far and was even thrown out if the Mexican Open after he snapped at the chair umpire and tried to hit him with his racket. He was even fined by the ATP for his unexplainable actions.

‘I hope the whole thing is coming to an end at some point’: Alexander Zverev on the court case
A while back, Zverev’s ex-girlfriend, Olga Sharypova accused him of molesting her and imposed charges on him on grounds of sexual assault and domestic violence. Zverev never accepted these charges and the matter is still in court. A few months ago, the ATP finally started to investigate Zverev for his behavior and the investigation is still on.
After the Madrid final, Zverev was asked about the investigation to which he said that unfortunately, the world believes you are guilty until proof is provided. He also hoped that the whole thing ends soon so that he could solely focus on his tennis.
“Until you prove yourself innocent you are guilty in the world that we live in now, which is not very fair at times. I hope the whole thing is coming to an end at some point, and then I can also play calmly and be focused on tennis,” he said.
