Maria Sharapova, former World No 1 and five-time Grand Slam champion, is a silver Olympics medallist. She is amongst the elite list of women that have completed a calendar slam and is also considered one of the prettiest tennis players of all time. She won her first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon in 2004 when she was just 17 years of age. She played a crucial role in popularizing women’s tennis.

But her journey hit a major roadblock when she failed to clear a drug test during the Australian Open in 2016. She was banned for two years but later, it was found that it was not intentional and she had taken the medicine on her doctor’s recommendation, eventually, her ban was reduced to 15 months.

She announced her retirement in 2020 owing to her constant injuries and thereby, not being able to perform her best game of tennis. Her retirement post said “I’m new to this, so please forgive me. Tennis – I’m saying goodbye. But as I embark on my next chapter, I want anyone who dreams of excelling in anything to know that doubt and judgment are inevitable. You will fail hundreds of times and the world will watch you. Accept it. Trust yourself. I promise you that you will prevail

Sharapova got engaged with British businessman Alexander Gilkes in 2020 after being in a steady relationship for two years. She recently announced the birth of her son named Theodore and she is ecstatic and over the moon about the arrival of her son. But within a few days, a picture of the former world number one shocked her fans all over the world where she was seen as physically fit and it seemed like she did not give birth to a baby.

Recently, she shared a story on her social media account on Instagram, where she was finding it difficult to stay awake the whole night while attending a board meeting with an Italian luxury brand Moncler. While attending the meeting, she was sipping a cup of coffee and on the other side pumping for her child. The caption mentioned as “I didn’t think it would ever be necessary to be awake before the child in the middle of the night, or that I would be pumping during a board call“.

She has been constantly updating her fans about her post-partum struggles and the hardships she is experiencing for the first time after being a mother. She admitted that her life has changed completely and she is learning the art of multi-tasking, which she had never thought of doing.
