“Hard work has finally come together,” Iga Swiatek elated after winning her second grand slam title at Roland Garros

Top seed Iga Swiatek continued her dream run and won a 6th consecutive title by beating Coco Gauff in the final of the 2022 French Open. She defeated Gauff in straight sets 6-1,6-3 to win her second grand slam title. With this 35th consecutive win, she has equaled Venus Williams’ record of the longest streak in the 21st century.
After the match, she congratulated her opponent, Gauff, for having an amazing tournament. The 18-year-old American reached the final without dropping a set. She said that Gauff is moving forward with each passing day and said that she had no idea what she was doing when she was her age.
She added that she’s extremely elated that everything is coming together perfectly and said that he has worked really hard for all this along with her team.
“I want to congratulate [Coco] for doing an amazing job; every moment, [she’s] progressing all the time, and when I was [her] age I had my first year on tour and I had no idea what I was doing! [She’ll] find that first title and be there, I’m sure. I’m happy with every piece [of the puzzle]; I felt that we have all worked hard and it’s finally come together. To my dad, I wouldn’t be in the world without him. Thank you for everything!” she said.

‘I have extra motivation every time I come to Roland-Garros’: Iga Swiatek
Swiatek continued by reminiscing her 2020 triumph and focused on how hard she has worked for this one. She then thanked the crowd and said that she has extra motivation whenever she comes to Roland Garros.
“Two years ago, winning this title was something amazing. I wouldn’t have expected it ever, but this time I worked hard and did everything to get here even though it was pretty tough, and the pressure was [so great]. I see a lot of Polish flags! I have extra motivation every time I come to Roland-Garros. it seems like I still need some experience [in acceptance speeches]!” she added.
