Naomi Osaka, the 24-year-old Japanese and four-time Grand Slam winner is set to play her first tournament since the Roland Garros where she lost to Amanda Anisimova in the first round, Osaka withdrew from the 2022 Wimbledon due to an Achilles heel injury and did not participate in the tournament.
Osaka will be playing her first tournament since the Roland Garros in the form of Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic after taking a wild card, the tournament starts on 1st August and ends on the 7th of the same month. The tournament will be held in San Jose, California, and includes some very big names alongside Osaka.

Starting four weeks before the US Open, Osaka will be making her comeback on hard court at the Mubadala Silicon Valley classic, along with her, there are many other big names from the WTA who will be participating like Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, Ons Jabeur, Coco Gauff and Bianca Andreescu.
Vickie Gunnarsson, the Silicon Valley tournament director commented on Osaka’s participation in the tournament and said, “We are very excited to have Naomi Osaka returning to the Bay Area, she made her WTA debut at our event and watching her grow both on and off the court has been amazing. She is not only an incredible player but her commitment to equality and social change is truly inspiring.“
Currently ranked number 38 in the world, Osaka was the number 1 player in the world for 25 weeks three years ago, becoming the first Asian woman to become world number 1. Ever since then she has been very vocal about her battling mental health issues and dealing with her injuries, which provided her with some much-needed support from all around the world and brought a lot of attention to the topic of mental health for athletes which a generally neglected topic.
