“Hasn’t been easy” Emma Raducanu believes she has found a new balance after a lot of challenges

Emma Raducanu, the British number 1 has had a rough year in terms of her performance on the tour. She became the first qualifier in the history of tennis to win a Grand Slam (US Open 2021) and after that extraordinary feat, her performance went downhill. It could be many factors including the increased performance pressure from a young player, too much media scrutiny, and a lot of change in coaches as well.

Raducanu went out in the first and second rounds of most of her tournaments after the US Open. Her only quarterfinal appearance was in the WTA Stuttgart 2022 on clay, where she lost to the eventual champion Iga Swiatek. Raducanu also had a disappointing French Open as she lost in the second round after winning the first set against Aliaksandra Sasnovich. Raducanu is hopeful that the grass season might be able to instill her with some confidence and momentum, going into the Wimbeldon.

Emma Raducanu is starting her grass season with Nottingham Open. In an interview with iTV Central, she said:

“Yeah! I think that I’m definitely finding the balance. More recently, I’ve been finding a better outlook and coping a lot better. I think it’s easy to forget how much has gone on and it hasn’t always been easy. I’ve had some tough patches in the last 8 months or 12 months, but I have definitely come out and I’m feeling good about how I’m approaching things.”

Raducanu will be hoping for some great performances as the grass season begins to gain momentum going into the Wimbledon and the US Open where she will feature as the defending champion.
