Novak Djokovic continues to dazzle and prove the naysayers wrong by winning a 7th Wimbledon title, his fourth in a row. His 4-set 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(3) title win over Australian bad boy Nick Kyrgios takes his slam tally to 21. This puts him ahead of Roger Federer‘s 20 and just one behind Rafael Nadal‘s 22. While his participation at the US Open hangs in the balance, he has repeatedly mentioned that he aims to stick around for a couple more years to win the highest number of grand slams ever.

Tennis journalist Leif Shiras recently commented on Djokovic’s incredible longevity and his future in the game. Leif himself being a former tennis player, attained a career high ranking of No. 31 way back in 1984 and has made the second round at all 4 slams.

After his victory at Wimbledon, how many slams does Novak Djokovic have in him seems to be the question on everyone’s mind. His longevity is astounding as he is still at the top of his game, easily getting past the Next Gen and the younger lot. Recently commenting on the Serbian’s future, Shiras said,

“I think Novak Djokovic in his current form, his physical health, he has four or five more Majors in him where he could reach 26 or 27. He is 35 years old and he continues to set this incredible standard of physicality.”

“And you know, that he loses a set against the young people on the circuit or two, as against Sinner, you feel that it doesn’t bother him. He simply finds another speed in his head, legs and heart.”
