“He is a scoundrel,” Rafael Nadal’s agency sued for millions ahead of the South American Tour
Carlos Costa, Rafael Nadal and Lisandro Borges
Rafael Nadal considered one of the greatest players around the world, is also the record holder of most singles Grand Slam titles to his name in the Open era. He has also won 92 ATP Tour titles with 63 of them on the clay court. He is the undisputed king at the Roland Garros. He will return to action at the ATP1000 Montreal Masters after his exit at Wimbledon. He will be looking to make the most of these matches with the court practice ahead of the hard-court swing.
But the Spaniard faced a major roadblock when he had to withdraw himself from the semi-finals at the Wimbledon Championship 2022 owing to his abdominal injury. He was aiming to achieve a calendar Grand Slam but nevertheless, he is on a roll after winning back-to-back Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open 2022 and French Open 2022. He will be looking to achieve another Grand Slam title to his name at the US Open 2022 which starts on 29 August.
“When someone causes you so much damage, we have no other option” Lisandro Borges on Rafael Nadal’s agency
Rafael Nadal is managed by a sports agency led by Carlos Costa, who is a former Spanish player who was the finalist at the Italian Open. Ahead of the hard-court swing, Costa had made commitments and signed contracts on behalf of Nadal to play some exhibition matches in Argentina ahead of the US Tour.
Lisandro Borges, co‐owner of World Padel Center LLC and Sport Desing SA , sent a legal notice to the Spaniard and his agency over failing to fulfill the commitments. Recently, in an interview, he spoke that millions of money is at stake and his agent Costa gave no importance to his repeated requests. He said “Carlos Costa is a villain and I told him that, but he doesn’t care. He thinks he can do whatever he wants because he has Rafael Nadal behind him“
The Argentian businessman further spoke about how he had no other choice left than to take the legal way. He further added “I’m going to tell you something, for us, to take legal action against the best sportsman, in my opinion, in history, just because that his manager is a scoundrel is not funny to me. But the truth is, when someone causes you as much damage as this man did to us, we have no choice but to do that.“
