“He is going to roll up his sleeves and get the vaccine,” Novak Djokovic to miss the Montreal Masters after the tournament director rules out the scope for any exemptions

Novak Djokovic was the center of headlines last Sunday for his Wimbledon win and of course his 21st grand slam win. He has won it all before 35 and is still going strong on the path to becoming Tennis’s most successful individual. Time and again he has proved he is among the best players tennis has ever witnessed.
The Serb won the title in the same year which started as a nightmare for him when he was not allowed to participate in the Australian Open and was deported back from the country after many days of drama in the court proceedings. Tennis streets have again started talking about the flashbacks of the Australian Open because of the uncertainty of whether he will play in the Montreal Masters and US Open has become the talk of the town, the Serb is still not allowed to enter USA due to his unvaccinated status.
Montreal Masters TD rules out any exemptions to be given in case of Novak Djokovic
The year which started with a nightmare looks to end in the same way for him, it now looks 99% possible that the 3-time US Open champion will miss the upcoming tournaments, Montreal Masters and US Open in Canada and USA respectively. Recently, the Canadian health minister, Jean Yves Duclos gave his statements on the whole scenario which seems to rule out the Serb’s chances of playing the Roger Cup.
“The rules apply to everyone. There are some exceptions, but… the rules apply to everyone. The COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet.” Canada’s Health Minister said.
After the Health Minister’s statements, Eugene Lapierre, Montreal Masters’ tennis director mainly spoke about Djokovic’s participation in the tournament. He acknowledged Djokovic would be missing from the tournament alongside Alexander Zverev who is still recovering from his French Open injury.
“We will have a great tournament,” he announced. “All the best players will be there except for two and we know the reasons for their absence.”
“Either the Canadian government is going to change the rules regarding vaccination or he is going to roll up his sleeves and get the vaccine. But I don’t think any of those scenarios are realistic.” he said
