Djokovic had a very tough start to this year at the Australian Open 2022 due to his ‘not-vaccinated status’ and he was deported out of the country. Following that, he was served with a notice stating that he won’t be allowed to play in Australia for the next three years. The US Government has clarified that there is no exemption for unvaccinated players and they will be exempted from playing at the 2022 US Open. But Djokovic is still hopeful that some decisions come in his favor and it keeps his hope of playing alive.

He had an exit from the 2022 French Open in the quarter-finals facing defeat from Rafael Nadal. But he proved himself what a true champion he is by winning at the SW19. This was his chance for redemption.

Novak Djokovic is still not vaccinated for the COVID-19 vaccination and he clearly stated that he has no intention of getting vaccinated anytime soon, even if it could end his dreams of playing at the US Open 2022. Former Baseball player and Host of Crain & Company, Jake Crain lashes the authorities for not allowing Djokovic to play and rules that this decision has nothing to do with sports, but rather is a purely political agenda.

He says that “They know Djokovic is not a threat to get anybody physically ill at the US Open. But if they let him play. it will be like admitting defeat. It’s terrible for the game of tennis as well. Djokovic is one of the fittest athletes. At this point, it’s downright stupid. ” He extended his support to the Serbian’s decision of not getting vaccinated and changing his stance under any given circumstances.

He further stated, ” I would like to commend Djokovic on staying true to himself. He doesn’t let the mob rule his action and bow to the pressure. They eventually let Kyrie Irving play in New York despite being unvaccinated. Then why not Djokovic. While he may not play at the US Open, for me, he is already the winner.”
