Rafael Nadal, who is aiming to win all four Majors this year, has now entered in semis of Wimbledon 2022 with a comeback win over Taylor Fritz where the latter gave his best to win the match. However in the end, it was Rafa’s resilience that held Fritz to enter a grand slam semi-finals for the first time.
As the game started, Fritz won the first set 6-3 while Nadal looked weak and showed signs of injury. However, the Spaniard went on to win the second set 7-5 to which Fritz replied with a win in the third set by 6-3, again it was the comeback king, Nadal who proved in the fourth set why he is among the favourites to win the tournament and went on to win the set 7-5. It was the fifth set when Fritz looked a bit tired and played a lot of shots in the net, Nadal went on to win the set in the tiebreaker by 10-4.
Taylor Fritz believes Rafael Nadal actually ‘played through an injury’

As the injury concerns are looming around whether Nadal will play in the semis against Nick Kyrgios or not? Italian tennis player Fabio Fognini accused Rafa of faking an injury against Taylor Fritz where he responded to a headline on Nadal’s injury by commenting
“Guys please stop believe in what you read PLEASE!!!”
Taylor Fritz put a full stop to the controversy as he was the one who played against Rafa on the court and he also denied any kind of ploy or tactics being used from the Spaniard’s end to slow down the game.
Fritz said, “I don’t think he, like, made up an injury or anything. His serve dropped, like, I don’t know, 10, 15 miles per hour. He wouldn’t do that for no reason. I’m sure he played through most likely a lot of pain. Everyone’s got little injuries and everyone’s got stuff this late into a tournament. Everyone’s kind of trying to play through stuff. It is what it is.”
“I think maybe in the second set when it looked bad, it definitely made me kind of think,” he added.
“I kind of stopped being as aggressive. I feel like I let it kind of get to me a little bit. It looked for a bit like he wasn’t moving so well for some shots, and then obviously the serve lost some speed,” he further said.
Around all the things happening at Wimbledon, Nadal moves to the semis where he will meet the Australian, Nick Kyrgios where we cannot predict how many more controversies are about to take place.
