Roger Federer played his last match at the quarterfinals of Wimbledon 2021, where he lost to Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets. He later announced that he had to undergo knee surgery and pulled out of the tours and it has almost been a year since the great maestro has set foot on the professional tour.

The fans were hoping the legend could come back on the court. It has been a tough few years for Federer as he is in the twilight of his career. It’s not long before fans expect Federer to announce his retirement, but they are also looking for a last bang from him. Federer too still has some fire left in him as he is training hard for a strong comeback.

Federer has always liked to do things on his terms and his retirement is no different. He will be truly motivated to return to the ATP tour and try to end his career the way he wants to end it: healthy, successful, and on his terms.

Roger Federer had already announced that he would be returning to the Laver Cup to partner with his longtime friend and rival Rafael Nadal. Federer would also like to play at Wimbledon even though there are no points at stake. There were some rumors that he would also be competing at Roland-Garros, but that was just a rumor.

Roger had posted quite some workout and training pictures to indicate that he would like to play some more before he decides to call it quits. But the most probable return tournament for Federer if not Wimbledon is the Laver Cup because he would like to start his last voyage surrounded by his friends and loved ones.

Tony Godsick, Federer’s long-time agent and business partner said: “I think the Laver Cup could be, if that’s the first event that he’s back, a nice entry way back for him, because he’ll be surrounded by friends and comrades,”

“Even if you’ve played tennis for so long like he has, coming back after a lay-off like that, it’s nice to have a little support.”
