Alexander Zverev has been having a tough time dealing with injuries and other complications. He has been out of action since his ankle injury which happened during the semi-final match against Rafael Nadal at the French Open in 2022. During the second set, he twisted his ankle and fell down on the court writhing in a lot of pain. He walked out of the court limping on crutches. He underwent surgery and was advised to a few weeks of rest for which he had to miss out on playing at the 2022 Wimbledon Championship.

The gold medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics had reached his first Grand Slam final at the 2020 US Open but lost to the eventual winner Dominic Thiem. He also could not go past the fourth round at the Australian Open after losing to Denis Shapovalov. He has won 19 ATP Tour titles in singles and two titles in the doubles category but is still looking for his first-ever Grand Slam title.

Zverev achieved his career-high ranking of being the world number 2 but it is unfortunate that he hasn’t been able to play a single match after that. He has been regularly giving updates regarding his injury and recovery journey on his social media account. He was hoping to make his comeback at the US Open but he announced his withdrawal from the tournament stating that his injury stills require some more time to be recovered completely. He will be looking to get back stronger and be fit completely to be back soon.
