Novak Djokovic, the Serbian legend, has had a wonderful 2023 run. By entering the finals of all four Grand Slams, he has managed to win three of them. He recently won the 2023 US Open and then got his Serbian team through the Davis Cup qualifiers. Recently, the Serb was honored as a citizen of Herceg Novi.
The beautiful city of Herceg Novi, which is situated on the coastline of Montenegro, made headlines by welcoming Novak as an honorary citizen. “Novak Djokovic, an outstanding personality, the best athlete in the world, and the biggest sports ambassador from this area, is deeply connected to Herceg Novi. His presence in our city is not only the fact that he has become our fellow citizen, but also an opportunity to promote Herceg Novi as a destination for athletes and tourists from all over the world,” said the announcement.
Previously, Novak Djokovic was declared an honorary citizen of Niksic and Buva, which are two cities in Montenegro. The recognitions not only reflect well on the Serb’s personality but also his contribution to the local communities and society at large.
Novak Djokovic wishes to play in every tournament
In a recent interview, Novak Djokovic revealed that he wants to play in South America before he hangs up his racket. Like Rafael Nadal did, Djokovic also wants to play there once before his retirement. “Tournaments in South America,” said Djokovic to Sportal when he was asked about one place he would love to play in. He continued to explain that he chose South America because of the passion he has for tennis and that he finds it unique.
Novak Djokovic, who recently revealed the location he wishes to play at, is currently focused on the last few tournaments of the year. The 24-time Grand Slam title winner skipped the Asia Tour and will be looking to play the ATP finals as well as the Paris Open.
Can Novak end the season as No. 1? Well, only his performances will tell. With that being said, there is no denying that his achievements speak volumes about him, and being honored as a citizen just adds to the list of Novak.
