Casper Ruud has managed to reach another Grand Slam final of the year after defeating the Russian Karen Khachanov in four sets 7-6(5),6-2,5-7,6-2. He had cruised his way to the semi-finals at the 2022 US Open after thrashing the Italian Matteo Berrettini in straight sets to record his 43rd win of the season. He defeated the lucky loser Corentin Moutet, Tommy Paul, Tim van Rijthoven and Kyle Edmund in the previous rounds to continue his great form at the US Open.
He had some wins and some losses managing to put up a good season in the hard-court season prior to the US Open. He had reached the semi-finals at the Canadian Open but lost to Hubert Hurkacz after defeating Felix Auger Aliassime in the quarter-finals. But at the Cincinnati Open, Ruud was handed a shocking defeat against Ben Shelton in the second round.
The young Norwegian star is proving himself as one of the best upcoming players in the world with his consistent performances and unique shots. Ruud is often called a clay court specialist but he has managed to prove his mettle on the hard courts as well with resilience and grit.

Ruud is already the best player in his country’s history. He strongly accepts that Manchester City’s goal machine, Erling Haaland who has already scored 12 goals in his first eight appearances is the biggest superstar in their country and his accomplishments and popularity cannot be matched even if he manages to come out as the winner in the finals of the US Open.
He said “He’s had an unbelievable season so far. We all hope he keeps going. It’s a joy to watch him score goal after goal. He’s obviously the biggest star we have in Norway at the moment. He’ll probably continue to be so for many more years. I can’t match Erling Haaland’s popularity even with US Open triumph“
He even expressed about putting Norway to get more recognition on the global map and will put in his best efforts for that. He added “I’m just focused on my career. I hope I can, of course, win more tournaments in my career. I want to represent Norway in a good way and put Norwegian tennis a little bit more on the map than it’s been the last years.“
Casper Ruud is the first player from his country to be playing in the finals at Flushing Meadows. He will be up against the in-form young Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz where both the players will be fighting for their maiden Grand Slam title and also to become the World number one which is on the line. It is for sure that the world will get a new World number one apart from the Big-3.
