Holger Rune has reached three finals out of the four clay court tournaments he has competed in this season.

Holger Rune
Holger Rune has been one of the most spoken names in world tennis for the past 12 months or so. After having a breakthrough year on the tour last season, the Danish prodigy has lived up to his expectations in 2023. He has been one of the most consistent performers during the clay court season, reaching three finals out of the four tournaments he has played in.
Holger Rune was recently defeated in the finals of the Italian Open by Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. This marked his second defeat in the finals of the ATP 1000 event this season, as he had previously lost to Andrey Rublev in the finals in Monte Carlo. However, the youngster remains upbeat despite failing at the final hurdle on numerous occasions.
Holger Rune believes he has had a good clay court season ahead of the all-important French Open. The Dane hopes to learn from his mistakes and shows eagerness toward winning titles. Rune defended his title in Munich last month, which was also his first title of the season.

Holger Rune confident of putting up a good show in Paris

Holger Rune is confident about putting up a good show in Paris, on the back of successful results during the clay court season. The Dane is determined to get small things right which will help him to win big matches.
“I have to look at it’s (that it’s) been a good clay season so far for me,” the 20-year-old said. “I made three finals out of four tournaments. In that way I can’t complain,” said Rune in an interview.
“As many of you guys know me now, I’m a very eager person to win titles. I’ve been close to. Hopefully, I will learn from it. But…Paris is the main goal of the clay season. I think I had the matches that I needed to be as well-prepared as possible. Now it is the last small things I want to do better the next time I stay in these big matches,” he added.
Holger Rune will open his French Open campaign against Christian Eubanks in the first round on Sunday. The 2022 Paris Masters champion is seeded sixth in Paris and is expected to at least reach the quarterfinals. Last year, he announced himself on the big stage after he defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the fourth round of the French Open. He went down fighting to the eventual runner-up Casper Ruud in the quarterfinals.
