World No. 6 Holger Rune blamed the ATP physiotherapists for not being good enough to treat the players. He claimed that the therapists were the reason he was not able to play at his absolute best level and that he was going to bring his own physiotherapists moving forward.

The Dane has been having a rough couple of months. With a season with nearly no titles, his only accomplishment was at the Bavarian Open, an ATP 250 event. However, he made it to the finals of the Monte-Carlo Masters and the Italian Open, both Masters 1000 events. Regardless, he lost both matches to Andrey Rublev and Daniil Medvedev, respectively.

However, the Dane decided that he would change his coach mid-season. He dropped Lars Christensen as his coach and drafted an agreement with former World No. 1 Boris Becker. While this agreement seemed to be fruitful, he ultimately lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semi-final of the Basel 500 event, where he was the top seed.

However, interestingly, Rune claimed that the reason for him being so out of form was the inability of the ATP physiotherapists to work on the players.

The reason my legs are so tight is because the ATP physiotherapists are not good enough to treat the players, that's why. Why do you think I play like this? People need to know that they are no good. There is a physiotherapist who takes 10 minutes per player.
Holger Rune said via press conference

He seemed to be disappointed by one physiotherapist in particular. He also said that he was going to bring his own physiotherapist moving forward. The former World No. 4 had made it clear that the ATP physiotherapists were providing below-par service to the players.

While Rune seemed to be getting back to his form after he changed coaches, he was ultimately defeated by the Canadian. Auger-Aliassime seems to be wanting to change the course of his season as he hopes to register his first win in 2023.

The Dane, while hoping to make a comeback and win the titles, was stopped by Auger-Aliassime. It is now the Canadian’s turn to try and add another title to his list.
