Coaching is one of the most important and prestigious jobs in the world. The coaches shape their disciples into being the best versions of themselves. In the world of tennis, coaches analyze, mentor, and work on the players to improve them and guide them to play a better tournament. Holger Rune, one of the youngsters in tennis, recently expressed his gratitude towards German coach Boris Becker.
Last week, Holger Rune had a joint training session with the legendary Boris. He is grateful for the opportunity and appreciates the German’s style of coaching. “It was a really good week of training. I have known Boris for a long time. Also, when I was a little younger, he gave me some tips and tricks. There, he showed that he supports me. You can feel it. That’s really a big difference,” said Rune via TV2.
Continuing his train of thought, he further added, “He can feel what I’m feeling. He can’t just say what he thinks I’m feeling, but he can feel it because he’s been in those situations himself. So it’s a different sensation and feeling. It is definitely a good thing to have someone who has tried it himself.”
The unique partnership between Rune and Boris highlights the value the coach holds. With additional help, Rune is looking to improve his game more, and fans are waiting to see a better Rune.
Holger set to defend his title at Stockholm
20-year-old Rune has pinnacled his way to the top and is currently ranked number 6 in the world. In an interview on TV2, the Danish revealed his thoughts about defending his title in Stockholm. “It’s a tournament I’ve been looking forward to playing again. I have good memories from last year, when I played really good tennis. There are a lot of good players, so I’m looking forward to getting into action,” revealed Rune in the interview.
After two consecutive early exits in both the China Open and Shanghai Open, the world number 6 is all set for his title defense in Stockholm as he gears up to face his first opponent in the form of Miomir Kecmanovic. Rune isn’t taking this match lightly, as he knows that Miomir resembles Novak Djokovic and will be looking to use his extra coaching as leverage to beat his opponent and have a successful title defense.
