I’m a player that’s gonna attack. I don’t care who I play, I’m gonna attack anyways. Against Daniil it’s a completely different match from today. The only similarity him and Fritz have is the big serve. Fritz is close to the baseline. Medvedev is far. Medvedev on this surface is dangerous.. I’m just gonna recover and believe in myself like I did today.
Holger Rune said after his win over Taylor Fritz.

Holger Rune will hope for a repeat of 2023 Monte Carlo quarterfinal

As Holger Rune readies himself to face Daniil Medvedev in the 2024 Indian Wells Open quarterfinal, the Dane will be hoping for a repeat of the 2023 Monte Carlo quarterfinal where Rune defeated Medvedev in straight sets.

Although it was on a different surface, Rune can take inspiration from his dominating performance against the Russian ace. Notably, Rune had beaten Medvedev 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinal of the Masters tournament.

However, Medvedev soon avenged this defeat. As the two players met in the 2023 Rome Masters final, the Russian came out on top in straight sets. Medvedev beat Rune 7-5 7-5 to clinch the title.

Now, as the two players will meet on the hardcourt for the first time, it will be interesting to see how the two players will approach the match. Medvedev is known for his prowess on this surface but Rune is also not a newbie. Hence, it is expected to be a thrilling contest.
