Holger Rune’s mother set to skip few of her son’s tournaments amid a huge team shakeup with Boris Becker’s exit
Holger Rune continues to make changes in his team as his mother is the next to compromise.

Holger Rune, the Danish youngster continues to have many changes in his team. After the exit of two important coaches, his mother and manager took a step back from attending all the matches.
After a disappointing run at the Australian Open, Rune had split up with Severin Luthi, the former coach of Roger Federer, after only two months. After that came an even bigger surprise as the Dane announced his split up with the legendary coach Boris Becker. With his team falling apart, the 20-year-old continued playing a few other tournaments with his other coaches taking the lead, and his mother doing her work as a manager.
However, his mother, who used to be in his player box was not there this week at Rotterdam. There were many questions concerning Rune’s mother and his team. Finally, the 20-year-old spoke to the media, revealing some more changes that he made to his team. Holger Rune said in an interview with TV2:
It’s a bit random. She’s going to be there at some tournaments and not be there (at others). She is still on the phone a lot, and we talk both before games and after games. So she is a huge part of my team and I love having her by my side.Holger Rune said
Rune revealed that it was healthy that his mother was not there for all his matches. He further revealed that his mother would be there only for the important ones while sitting out for the rest. Aneke Rune, his mother used to manage her son while also controlling the press meeting schedule. For a change, Rune was managed by IMG during Rotterdam.
Holger Rune’s devastating run in 2024 continues as he fails to advance at the Rotterdam Open
Youngster Holger Rune was one of the players to watch out for in the 2024 seasons after a comeback towards the end of 2023.
However, the Dane did not live up to the expectations and faced a second-round loss at the Australian Open. Following that, he also lost in the Open Sud De France semifinals. He had to give a walkthrough in the semi-finals but made it to the Rotterdam Open.
After winning his first-round match against Roman Safiullin, the 20-year-old could not continue the winning run. He lost in the second round of Rotterdam to see another early loss. Currently coached by Kenneth Carlsen, the Dane has not yet spoken on the future of his team, except that his mother won’t be seen in every tournament. Following his loss at Rotterdam, the Danish star will be seen in Mexico next, where he hopes to have a better run than the previous tournaments.
