World No.6 Holger Rune, who is currently participating in the ongoing Wimbledon Championships in London, has come out in support of fellow tennis player Jenson Brooksby who received a provisional ban for missing three doping tests in a 12-month period. Rune took to Twitter and criticized the drug testing process by sharing a couple of tweets.
Brooksby, the 22-year-old American in a press release defended himself against the charges but accepted the provisional ban from the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA). In the statement, Brooksby said he has never failed a drug test prior to this even after his surgeries, and that he had never taken a banned substance.
And about his whereabouts, the American said that he was at the hotel and also claimed that ITIA knew about it. Brooksby, who once reached No. 33 in the rankings has slipped to No. 101 after nearly a six-month absence from tennis due to wrist surgeries and hasn’t played professional tennis since January this year.
Brooksby participated in the 2023 Australian Open where he defeated French Open finalist Casper Ruud with the score of 6-3, 7-5, 6-7(4), 6-2. His last match was against Tommy Paul in the same tournament which did not go in his favor as he lost the match in straight sets 1-6, 4-6, 3-6.

Holger Rune takes a dig at ITIA for the doping test process
It’s worth noting that players face the ban due to three “whereabouts failures”. That’s why Holger Rune took a dig at the ITIA for their attitude while approaching players for the doping tests and said how it’s stressful to update them about their whereabouts to the ITIA officials because tennis players travel a lot.
“I overheard the door bell at my home one time (can’t hear when at the balcony) They don’t give a sh…You have to sit by the door for one hour waiting every day 24/7/52 weeks per year. Super stressed about updating these time sloths daily because we travel so much,” Rune wrote on Twitter.
Here’s his post:
Meanwhile, at the Wimbledon Championships, the Dane defeated George Loffhagen 7-6(7-4), 6-3, 6-2 in the first round. In the second round which is underway on Court 3, Rune is leading by 6-3, 7-6(7-3) against Roberto Carballes Baena (at the time of writing this article) in the second round on Friday (July 7).
