Alexander Zverev is the defending champion of the ATP Finals
Alexander Zverev handed Daniil Medvedev, the champion of the ATP Finals of 2020 a straight sets defeat in the finals of the 2021 ATP Finals to win the title for the second time. He won his first Nitto ATP title in 2018 defeating the Serbian legend Novak Djokovic in straight sets.
But this time, there are fewer chances for Zverev to qualify for the championship since he hasn’t played a single match after his injury at the French Open with further rehabilitation and recovery that did not add to his early return. He was hoping for a comeback at the Davis Cup but a bone injury further pushed his recovery for some time.
Carlos Alcaraz, Casper Ruud, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Stefanos Tsitsipas have already qualified for the year-end championship in Turin with three more players’ names yet to be confirmed.
