Novak Djokovic will return to the ATP Tour next week at the Paris Masters as the defending champion in what will be his penultimate tournament of the season. It hasn’t been an ideal season for Djokovic given his vaccination status but he hopes to end the season well as he is permitted to play across Europe despite not being vaccinated.
Ahead of the Paris Masters, Djokovic spoke about the GOAT debate once again in an interview with RMC Sport. The GOAT debate is a ever-lasting debate in the tennis circles to determine who is the greatest amongst Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. The Serb said that there are a lot of factors that are included in the discussion and he’d rather let everyone else discuss that. He is just very motivated to make history for the sport.
“We have a lot of factors that are included in this discussion about who the GOAT is. I’ll let everyone discuss that. I am very motivated to make history for our sport,” he said.

He added that every time he’s on the court, he is looking for inspiration to improve his game and due to this quality of his, he has been able to play tennis for the last two decades.
“Every time I’m on the court with the racket, even on the day I’m not very motivated, I’m looking for inspiration to improve my game. This is the number one condition for which I continue to play tennis after twenty years,” he said further.
Djokovic also talked about his ambition to win the biggest titles in tennis and to be a part of history. He believes that he is in the position to make history and that is his biggest motivation to compete.
“Then there is the ambition to win the biggest titles we have in our sport and to be in history. I am in a particular era. I am in a position to make history in my sport. That’s maybe the biggest motivation to compete again,” he added.
