Felix Auger-Aliassime (IMAGO / Belga)
Canadian Top seed and World No. 9 Felix Auger-Aliassime couldn’t confine his happiness on beating the Spanish World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz in the ATP-500 Basel Open Semi-finals today. FAA is in excellent form since the start of the indoor season and won 2 titles in a row in Florence and Antwerp.
Speaking to an interviewer on the court, the young Canadian seemed extremely satisfied with his current form and even expressed how happy he was at his level, especially with his performance against none other than Carlos Alcaraz. He noted, “So far, everything has been very close to perfect. I served amazingly. I haven’t been broken once yet. There is still a game to play, but the week has been fantastic. I played good tennis, and again today against the best player in the world. It’s an incredible victory, so I’m really happy with my level and I hope I can go all the way” (Translated via Google)
FAA was seen serving flawlessly throughout the match and was not giving any sort of rhythm. This was their third face-off against each other and the World No.1 is yet to get a win over the Canadian. It seems like FAA will be the guy along with Jannik Sinner, born after the 2000s, to stop the Spanish Tornado in the future.

The ‘kids’ born after the 2000s have been taking tennis to the next level as we could see from the recent performances of young guns like Carlos Alcaraz, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Italian World No.12 Jannik Sinner. Alcaraz has already won his maiden Grand Slam with his incredible US Open 2022 run.
Sinner vs Alcaraz US open 2022 Quarter Finals was one of the most thrilling matches ever in the history of tennis as the youngsters battled out for 5 hours and 18 mins with animalistic rallies, reminding us of the Rafael Nadal– Novak Djokovic iconic rivalry on the court. These two have played 4 times against each other and have 2 wins apiece. Apart from the US open encounter, the pair battled out earlier in Wimbledon 2022 R16 where the Italian came out on top in 4 sets.
FAA vs Alcaraz has never played in a Grand Slam match. They have played thrice in the best of 3 sets and the Canadian Won all 3 of them. Felix also has a 100% winning record against Sinner – they have played twice but never in a Grand Slam match.
22-year-old FAA, 19-year-old Alcaraz, and 21-year-old Sinner have already been fighting for the top prizes in tennis consistently. The Tennis world is looking forward to more of their encounters. Maybe a future big 3 is in the making- Let’s wait and see.
