Novak Djokovic won his 21st career Grand Slam title at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships defeating Nick Kyrgios in the finals. Djokovic won the match 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(3) in 3 hours and 1 minute to win his 7th Wimbledon title and 4th on the trot as he now is unbeaten at the All-England Club in 28 matches and undefeated on Center Court since 2013.

The win now takes Djokovic just one Wimbledon shy of matching Roger Federer‘s tally of 8 titles, the most won by any man at the All-England Club while Martina Navratilova holds the all-time record with 9 Wimbledon trophies. Novak also moves closer to Rafael Nadal‘s tally of 22 majors and has for the first time overtaken Federer in the race for most majors as the Swiss Maestro despite being the first to 20 majors in 2018 has not been able to add another title to his trophy cabinet.

With Djokovic moving closer to Nadal’s tally, the race for most majors has heated up once again. The next Grand Slam will be the 2022 US Open but it remains a doubtful destination for Djokovic. With Novak not ready to get vaccinated against Covid-19, he won’t be allowed to enter the USA as the country demands a proof of vaccination from all of its foreign visitors.

“I am not vaccinated and I do not intend to be vaccinated. The only good news I can have is that they eliminate that protocol that only people who are vaccinated or have some exemption can enter the country. I do not know if it will be possible,” said Djokovic after winning the Wimbledon and making his plans clear leaving no chance of speculation.
