Daniil Medvedev is showing no signs od discomfort from the hernia procedure went through. He has finished all of his matches in straight sets at the French Open 2022 including the third-round match against Miomir Kecmanovic. Medvedev defeated Kecmanovic 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 as he moves on to the fourth-round at Stade Roland Garros.

Kecmanovic had reached the third after two brilliant wins against Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Alexander Bublik, but he couldn’t cause any trouble for the world number 2. Medvedev has an easier section of draw so he would like to make the full use of it to reach the semfinal, where he is expected to meet Stefanos Tsitsipas for a place in the final. Medvedev would like to make it a third Grand Slam final in a row as the Russian tries to get some momentum after a break.

Medvedev will face the winner of Gilles Simon and Marin Cilic in the fourth round at Roland Garros. Medvedev is looking brilliant on the surface he has said that he doesn’t like. Maybe making it to the finals of the French Open will increase his affinity for clay. On the on-court interview, Medvedev said:

“It was wonderful that I didn’t lose my serve, I feel good on this surface, everyone can see that. Everything worked well. There are days like that, I wish there were more days like it. I hope I can have a day like that in future”

On the question of his last week’s Geneva Open, and his general difficulty on clay, he said:

“Yes, I think last year, the first round was very difficult. I was number 2 in the world and everyone was talking about that he can’t play at Roland Garros and that gave me a lot of stress. I did a lot practice before Roland Garros last year and I thought to myself that I just need to win the first round. So, last year helped me a lot and I said, ‘Well this year, I’ve got to continue and if I lose in the quarterfinals I’d do what I could do better’ “
