“I had doubts if I could play,” Carlos Alcaraz makes a shocking revelation from the Barcelona Open

Carlos Alcaraz has been sensational in this year’s tour, he became the youngest ever player to win the Miami Open and then backed it up with another title in Barcelona. Alcaraz has exceeded all expectations. People already knew he was talented but his this year’s performance has let everyone know that he is a generational talent who can be a world-beater at some point in future if he keeps on improving like this.
The Murcian defeated compatriot Pablo Carreno Busta in the finals to lift the Barcelona Open. The teenager also defeated Monte Carlo winner Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals and had another gruelling semifinal against Australia’s Alex de Minaur. However, the finals was completely one-sided as Alcaraz defeated Carreno Busta 6-3, 6-2 in a match that exceeded a slight over an hour.
Recently speaking about his win in Barcelona in an interview, Alcaraz revealed that he fell from the stairs on the day ahead of the finals and was not sure of his participation in the finals. He shared how he fought through the pain and played the match. He said, “This is something that only my team knows. On Sunday I woke up with my left foot: I fell down the stairs before playing the semifinal. It’s not that it was eighty, but it was a bit and I hurt myself.”
“I was doubting if I could play well, but in the end the adrenaline of the match made me play without problems. I was warming up, active, but I slipped… luckily, with that adrenaline I got over it. Then, between matches, I slept one After a half-hour nap (laughs), I ate something before the match. Then, after each match, I always try to do between ten or fifteen minutes of cycling to recover and loosen muscle, it’s something I usually do,” Alcaraz added.

Carlos Alcaraz has been sensational this year on tour. After reaching the third round at the Australian Open, Alcaraz won the Rio Open and also reached the semifinals of the Indian Wells. He lost out against his idol, Rafael Nadal despite giving a great fight. However, he followed it up by winning the Miami Open. He became the youngest ever to win the event, breaking Novak Djokovic’s record. He faltered in Monaco but made it up for it by winning the title in Barcelona.
The youngster will now look to participate in the Madrid Open and some experts do feel that Alcaraz is really a contender to win the title in the Spanish capital.
