Carlos Alcaraz has had a superlative season till now. The Spaniard has racked up 35 wins out of 40 matches and 4 titles this year alone. Alcaraz won his first title of the season at the Rio Open, defeating Diego Schwartzman 6-4, 6-2. After a semifinal loss to fellow Spaniard Rafael Nadal, he stormed the Miami Open by beating defeating Casper Ruud to win his first Masters 1000 championship.

He will enter Hamburg as the overwhelming favorite because he has already won three titles on clay this year. He hasn’t played on clay since losing to Alexander Zverev in the French Open quarterfinals. The phenom will be looking hopes to add the Hamburg championship to the three he already has this year. The Spaniard is confident that he can compete at the highest level.

In a conversation with Tennis TV, Alcaraz said, “The French Open was unbelievable for me, reaching the quarter-finals, playing a good match against Zverev. I’m excited to come back to play on clay, doing my best. Of course I have the level and confidence to win the tournament.”

“I am very excited to play here for my first time [it’s a big tournament]. I talked with [My coach] Juan Carlos Ferrero and he played here a long time ago and he said it is a beautiful tournament. I’m really excited to play here.”
