Rafael Nadal is out of the US Open after an agonizing defeat against Frances Tiafoe in the fourth round. The Spaniard was eyeing his 23rd grand slam title to extend his lead in the race but had his journey halted by the American. Tiafoe defeated Nadal in four sets, 4-6,6-4,4-6,3-6. Tiafoe became the first man to defeat Nadal in a grand slam since Novak Djokovic had defeated him in 2021 at Roland Garros.

Tiafoe became the first man to defeat Nadal in a grand slam since Novak Djokovic had defeated him in 2021 at Roland Garros. Nonetheless, Rafael Nadal had a great season before the US Open. He won the Australian Open and French Open this year and is leading the major race with 22 grand slam titles followed by Novak Djokovic’s 21. Fans are sad to see the champion leave as it remains unclear right now when Nadal will come back.
