Former world No.1, Carlos Alcaraz is all set for the upcoming season after missing out on the Australian Open due to injury. He is set to make his season debut at the next week’s Argentina Open. His first match will be against the winner of  Fabio Fognini and Laslo Djere in Buenos Aires. The Spaniard lost his world No.1 after missing out on the Australian Open and slipped behind Novak Djokovic.

Before making his debut this season, he opened up on his recovery and his plans for the upcoming season. Returning to being fully fit, Carlos is certainly a big threat to many other players as he will be the title favorite in most of the tournaments. Carlos suffered an oblique tear last November at the Rolex Paris Masters due to which he missed out on the professional sport for four months.

Speaking on the eve of his season debut, Carlos said “It’ll be my first tournament since I picked up the injury in Paris. It’s been four months since then. But I always arrive thinking about winning and wanting to win, even though it won’t be easy after such a long time without competing.” Since he is coming off a long break, Carlos came into the tournament a bit early and started his practice.

Carlos Alcaraz also brought a few of his family members along with him to South America and said “They’re here and I also count my team as family: Juanjo [Moreno], my physio, Albert Molina, and Toni [Antonio Martínez Cascales].”

Carlos Alcaraz reflects on his last season and ready for the next season

2022 was an exceptional year for Carlos Alcaraz in terms of his performance on the court. He picked up his first Grand Slam title at the US Open, his first ATP Masters 1000 crowns in Miami and Madrid, and his first ATP 500 trophies in Rio de Janeiro and Barcelona. As a result, he reached world No.1 for the first time in his career at a very young and initial stage of his career.

Speaking on his past season, he said “It was a very good year. I achieved my dream, my goal, very quickly. Practically in just a year. I dealt with it as naturally as possible. After becoming No. 1 I had to set new goals, new things for the long term, to continue to enjoy myself, continue to improve, because I’m very young and I have a lot of things to improve, despite being the No. 1.”
