World No. 1 Iga Swiatek continues to dominate the WTA Tour as she enters the semi-finals at the 2022 WTA Finals. Swiatek defeated Caroline Garcia 6-3, 6-2 to become the first player to make it to the last 4 at the year-end championships as she is eyeing to bag her maiden title at the event.

Swiatek defeated Daria Kasatkina 6-2, 6-3 to kickstart her campaign in Fort Worth and followed it with a similar victory against Garcia. The Pole is the odds favorite for the title this year having lost only 8 matches from the 72 she has played this year. In the draw this year, only Garcia has defeated Swiatek this year and the Pole has already avenged her loss.

With pop stars Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey collaborating for the latest popular song ‘Snow on the Beach’, Swiatek took to Twitter to express her emotions about the collab. While she did not specifically talk about she feels about the song, she was more concerned with not knowing about the song’s release for nearly a week.

“I definitely play too much tennis if I didn’t know that @taylorswift13 & Lana Del Rey recorded song together. How could I live 6 days without knowing…,” tweeted the 3-time major winner identifying herself as a ‘Swiftie’ an acronym for the fans of Taylor Swift.

What has recently become a trend, many players are seen with headphones before entering the court. This measure is taken by many to ensure the crowd noise does not affect their concentration and focus prior to the start of the match and that they maintain their composure going into the competition.

Swiatek is one of the players to often have her headphones on while entering the court. Following the win over Garcia, Swiatek will now take on the already eliminated Coco Gauff in a repeat of the 2022 French Open finals. Gauff with no win in both of her matches is out of contention for the semis making the clash a dead rubber. Nevertheless, Swiatek will look to carry a winning momentum in the semis.
