“I play for the people” Nick Kyrgios humbly gifts his smashed racquet to a disabled fan at the Halle Open

Nick Kyrgios had a match filled with mixed emotions against Stefanos Tsitsipas in the round of 16 of the Halle Open. The Australian started the match in frustration as he lost the first set. After that, he was so unhappy with his performance that he ended up breaking his racquet on the court in anger.

However, it seemed that after eliminating all the frustration inside him by breaking the racquet he was a completely different player. Trailing by a set he had nothing to lose and he played that way. He served brilliantly and seemed much more agile as compared to the first set. He won the second set comprehensively.

In the third set, Tsitsipas tried making some good moves but Kyrgios had a reply to all of those moves and won the third set and the match as well. It was a great match for Kyrgios since he came from a place where there was a wall behind his back and he had to work hard to win. Such a win could improve his chances of showing some of his best performances at Wimbledon.

Nick Kyrgios gifts his racquet to a disabled person in court

According to a lot of people, Nick Kyrgios is a mean and selfish person but he has shown time and time again that he is only rude to those who are rude to him. He is there to entertain the crowd and play interesting games instead of boring ones. He has managed to attract a lot of people to tennis by his quirks like underarm serve, returning between the legs, and even talking opinions from the crowd.

This time around he won everyone’s hearts by gifting his broken racquet to one of the disabled fans who had come to watch the Australian play at the Halle Open. In a very heartwarming moment, Krgios signed his racquet and gifted it to the disabled fan who seemed really happy after receiving the racquet.

Kyrgios after the match said, “The crowd is great in Halle. I play for the people. Everywhere I go I have the feeling that they want to see me and want to see the show.”
