Iga Swiatek, the world number one, has advanced to the final of the Stuttgart Open following a thrilling match against Ludmilla Samsonova. Tomorrow, she will compete in her fourth consecutive competition final, and she will be hoping to add to her remarkable trophy collection this year. After more than three hours on the court, the Polish star battled back to beat Samsonova 6-7, 6-4, 7-5.

“This match was so long. We had a lot of ups and downs. It’s like a marathon,” Swiatek told the crowd afterwards. “So I’m pretty happy that at the end, I was super consistent and I could just play solid. I loosened up and played really fearlessly because she was serving really fast. All credit to her. She had a great run.”
It was a great demonstration from the two women. They both completely depleted their tanks and put on a show during their encounter. The match was nearly impossible to predict from the outset, but after an incredible comeback, the new world number one emerged as triumphant.
“I have no idea how I came back. Honestly, I didn’t want to give up. I wanted to try and find solutions. I think Liudmila played Top 8 tennis. We both were fighting until the last ball. I was pretty fortunate that I was able to break her at 5-5,” Iga Swiatek went on to add.

In the tournament’s final round, Iga Swiatek will meet Aryna Sabalenka tomorrow afternoon. The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix final will be their third meeting, with each of them having won a prior match. At 12.00 GMT tomorrow afternoon, Sabalenka and Swiatek will compete. It will undoubtedly be a thrilling final, with both players ranked in the top five.
