“I was able to turn my hobby into a job” Roger Federer expresses his gratitude toward tennis

Roger Federer is among the greatest tennis players to have ever played the game. He has an astounding 103 singles titles in his career including 20 Grand Slams. He was also ranked number 1 in the world for 5 year-ends. Though he has become 40 years old and is expected to retire soon, he still believes that some tennis remains in him.
He has been inactive from the ATP tour for about a year as he had to undergo surgery for his knee injury. Things are looking good for Roger’s expected to return at the Laver Cup and he is expected to begin playing in the majors as well to try and get a bit closer to his contemporary Rafael Nadal‘s 22 Grand Slam record. Federer has expressed his gratitude to tennis, for giving him everything. He said:
“What the tennis court means to me has changed. It used to be a playground for me but today it’s more of a place of work – which sounds kind of wrong, but it’s still cool because it means that I was able to turn my hobby into a job,” Federer said. “Every now and then, just for fun, I say to my family when a training session or a game is due: ‘Bye guys, I’m going to the office now!'”

Roger Federer talks about juggling between the kids and the fans.
As a part of an interview with Coopzeitung, Federer also talked about meeting fans in playgrounds where he takes his own kids,
“The kids run in all directions when we get to a playground. It’s about not losing sight of them all and not getting too distracted. Because of course there will be one or two visitors. Above all abroad, I’m no longer asked, it’s clear to others from the start that I have to pose with them. Then mommy is quickly called on Facetime: ‘Look who I’m with! It’s Roger’ People are more shy in Switzerland. They say, ‘Roger, we saw that you just took a picture. We don’t want to bother you, but is it okay if we do another one right away?”
Federer is enjoying his time away from the tour by visiting lots of new places and getting new perspectives. But, he has been training for his comeback and it seems like he would like to get back to competing for the biggest title till he feels that he cannot carry on anymore.
