Coco Gauff, the 18-year-old American was the star of the French Open 2022, making it to both singles and doubles final in Paris. She had finally made it to a grand slam final and despite losing, the experience she got at such a young age would be instrumental in her development as a great player. She is currently playing the Bett1 Open in Berlin as she would look to get past the fourth round at Wimbledon 2022, after two fourth-round appearances.

After Gauff’s impressive second-round victory over Xinyu Wang in Berlin, she talked about Serena Williams‘s return in the press conference. Gauff said: “I was really shocked, I didn’t know, I knew she was gonna come back, I know she hints it up and holds it but coming back after injury, especially after age you never know, nothing is really certain, but I’m super excited and glad to see that she is back and realistically it gonna be one of the last few times that we all get to see her play professionally and I will relish it.”

Serena Williams has announced that when will play doubles in Eastbourne with Tunisian superstar and world number 4, Ons Jabeur. Gauff admitted to being jealous of Ons for her getting an opportunity to play doubles with Serena. Serena has only played doubles with five other players and Ons is the sixth on that prestigious list. Gauff said:

“I love Ons, she is like my favorite person ever, but I was so jealous when I saw that announcement, I was like ah! I would’ve loved that because I got to play with Venus[Williams] and it was great, but I don’t know how many people could say that they played with both of them so I would love to get that. But, I think Ons and Serena that would be a good team, and kind of polar opposite games like Ons has very good hands and Serena hits the ball like million miles and hour, so they are definitely going to be a threat.”
