“I wish to play these kinds of matches” Carlos Alcaraz hopes to play historic matches like the Nadal-Federer 2008 Wimbledon finals

The final of Wimbledon 2008 was one of the most fiercely fought matches in the history of tennis. It was played between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, ranked number 2 and number 1 in the world respectively. Nadal won the first two sets to take the lead 2-0 but Federer came back with two tie-break victories making the score 2-2 and pushing the match into the fifth set. Nadal won the fifth set tiebreak and the match, completing his first-ever Channel Slam (winning both the French Open and Wimbledon in the same year).

Carlos Alcaraz, the young sensation and the current world number 7, had achieved the feat of becoming the first teenager to beat Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal in the same tournament, has come off a quarterfinal appearance at the Roland Garros, and he has set his sights on Wimbledon 2022. He feels that he has what it takes to win a title as prestigious as Wimbledon. He said: “Of course I see it as possible. In the end it is the dream I am looking for. That’s what I work for every day,”

Carlos Alcaraz feels he’s ready for the Wimbledon title

Alcaraz has made his mark in 2022, entered the top 10 in the world, and has also won two Masters 1000 and two ATP 500 titles this year. He was playing extremely well in the French Open but lost in the quarterfinal. Alcaraz was supposed to play the Queen’s Club 2022 as he got ready for Wimbledon, but due to some problems with his elbow. He will directly play in London and he is ready to play some historic matches at Wimbledon. He said:

“Everyone remembers the 2008 final between Nadal and Federer, considered one of the best matches in history and which was spectacular.” He continued: “Rafa has won several historic matches at Wimbledon, and I tell myself: ‘Hopefully I can be there playing these kinds of matches.'”
