Alexander Zverev has stated that he “won’t put up with” Carlos Alcaraz displacing him as one of the French Open favourites, claiming that it was acceptable when Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic were competing. After losing to him in the final of the Madrid Open, the German stated the 19-year-old was the “best player in the world” right now.
After winning the Madrid Masters and defeating the other two major contenders, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, Alcaraz became the bookies’ favourite for the French Open. Following his triumph at the Italian Open, the world No. 1 has become the favourite with some bookmakers, although the top three slots are still shared by the same trio.

Zverev, who was previously the hot young phenom that Alcaraz is now, isn’t happy about being passed by the in-form teenager. The fact that 19-year-old Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz is listed as the favourite for the title in Paris by betting providers has aroused the Olympic champion’s ambition, his brother Mischa told the Eurosport podcast “Das Gelbe vom Ball”. Zverev is still without a tournament win this year.
