Novak Djokovic claims he would be unbothered if Rafael Nadal wins 10 Majors more than him
Djokovic would definitely like to exceed Nadal, his biggest rival's record, but would still be satisfied with his own personal record

World No.1 in the ATP rankings, with a record 377 weeks on top, Novak Djokovic still has many ambitions. The Serb currently equals Rafael Nadal in the race of most major titles won. Both players have a record total of 22 titles. Roger Federer follows behind them at twenty. Djokovic recently tied Nadal after winning the 2023 Australian Open.
In a recent interview, Djokovic explained his views on the ongoing battle to come out on top in the Grand Slams record. This year will prove to be pivotal for both the veterans to compete for the top-most position. Novak stated that he would be ‘satisfied’ even if he is unable to surpass Nadal in the near future.
After sustaining an injury during the second round of the Australian Open, Nadal has been in recovery. The Spaniard has since taken a break to recuperate. Subsequently, Djokovic’s chances to lead the count are high this season. Nadal hopes to return back in action by the time the French Open comes around to defend his title.
When asked if he would be content with sharing the record with Rafa, Djokovic seemed unperturbed. Novak stated that he would love to have more major titles than his ‘biggest rival’. “…when I have to draw the line and look back on the history of my career and what I have achieved, even if I stop here and he wins another 10 Slams, I have to be overall satisfied,” said Djokovic.
The 35-year-old further elaborated that he would, nevertheless, feel slightly regretful. But, in the end, it is important for the 22-time Grand Slam champion to maintain a balance. In a long 20-year career, the Serb has achieved innumerable feats. To remain humble and be grateful for all his achievements is important to Djokovic.
Novak Djokovic to compete in the Dubai Tennis Championships
Novak Djokovic is making a comeback after winning the Australian Open and is going for his third consecutive championship of the year. His most recent victory there occurred in the year 2020. The Serbian is a five-time champion at the Dubai Open. Djokovic is set to play a qualifier in the first round of the tournament.
Andrey Rublev is the defending champion of the title. The championship will begin on Monday, with players like Daniil Medvedev, Andy Murray, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Alexander Zverev, among others. Simultaneously, Djokovic is awaiting the decision on his entry application in the United States. The World No.1 hopes to take part in the Sunshine Doubles in the country.
