John McEnroe, the 63-year-old former American professional is widely regarded as one of the all-time greats of tennis, with 7 grand slam titles to his name, McEnroe has etched his name among the all time greats and the elites of the sport as he is looked up as an inspiration for the current generation of players.

More popular for his on-court antics more than his playing ability, McEnroe was lauded as one of the most entertaining players to watch on the court as he would often get into arguments with the umpires and throw tantrums where he has made some intense memories over the years.

Recently partaking in a WIRED interview, John McEnroe answered questions that fans had on Twitter, there were many topics covered, most notable of all was when McEnroe is asked that why tennis players had so many outburst on the court, to which McEnroe was taken back after hearing the question as he insisted that players were generally well behaved.

McEnroe said, “You must be watching different tournament than me because I don’t see many players having meltdowns at all and I know something about meltdowns given my past experience,I’ve seen a couple players, obviously Nick Kyrgios comes to mind, having meltdowns on a pretty regular basis. But for the most part, tennis players are incredibly well behaved. I’d like to see a little bit more explosive temper, see the emotions, wear it on their sleeve.”

John McEnroe also hinted towards Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina as he said, “I just saw someone from the girl’s side winning Wimbledon showing no emotion at all and i don’t know if any of us wanna see that, perhaps it is a happy medium.

Apart from this, McEnroe talked about many other things like the toughest opponent he has faced as took some nig names like Ivan Lendl and Pete Sampras as well, the American also explained some rules and ethics of tennis to some people as well.
