“If he fails to give a prompt resolution, then I have to go to the High Court” Nick Kyrgios lands into a legal battle over his allegations towards a female spectator during the Wimbledon finals
Anna Palus, the alleged female spectator and Nick Kyrgios
Nick Kyrgios has been on a roll with his fantastic performances this season. He won his 7th ATP title at the Citi Open defeating Yoshihito Nishioka in the finals in straight sets to claim his first ATP title of the year. He had a remarkable grasscourt season as he made his maiden singles final appearance at the 2022 Wimbledon Championship where he put up a great competition but eventually lost to the eventual winner Novak Djokovic.
The Aussie made a great comeback after his stellar win against the World number one Daniil Medvedev in the second round of the Canadian Open but soon lost to Hubert Hurkacz in the quarter-finals putting a break to his incredible stint. He even failed to go past the second round at the Cincinnati Open as he failed miserably to put up a great show against Taylor Fritz as the match ended in just 51 minutes of play. Apart from being a fantastic player, he has quite often been criticized for his on-court antics. He even fails to keep his emotions in check while playing and it has been a major concern for him to keep his focus in check.
“I hope he offers a prompt resolution to the matter” Anna Palus on Nick Kyrgios’ allegations
During the finals of 2022 Wimbledon Championship finals between Kyrgios and Djokovic, the Australian went ahead to complain about a female spectator possibly alleging her as ‘the woman who looks like she’s had about 700 drinks ‘. He urged the chair umpire to get her removed from the stands. It was during the second set and it shifted gears for the Aussie and he lost his match losing his calmness.
The female fan named Anna Palus released a statement that Kyrgios’ allegations have caused her a lot of mental damage and her family was also under the brunt of it. She said “During the course of the final, Nick Kyrgios made a reckless and entirely baseless allegation against me. Not only did this cause considerable harm on the day, resulting in my temporary removal from the arena, but Mr. Kyrgios’ false allegation was broadcast to, and read by, millions around the world, causing me and my family very substantial damage and distress.“
Palus even further went on to state that if she fails to get a proper answer, she might have to take strict action. She further added “I hope that Mr. Kyrgios will reflect on the harm he has caused me and my family and offer a prompt resolution to this matter. However, if he is unwilling to do this, I am committed to obtaining vindication in the High Court.“
