21-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic has another long anxious month ahead of him as he waits to know whether or not he will be allowed to play in the 2022 US Open that starts on 29th August in New York as the final Grand Slam of the season. Djokovic came very close to becoming just the 2nd man in history to win all 4 majors in 1 calendar year but had to settle for the runners-up trophy at last year’s US Open going down in straight-sets to current World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev.

Djokovic has 1200 points to defend this year and with not being allowed to play in Australia followed by the removal of the points from Wimbledon, the Serbian is currently the World No. 7 and could drop further below if he loses all of his 1200 points from last year’s US Open. Despite making it clear that he won’t be taking the vaccine, Novak continues to hope that the USA will have a change of policy that could see the Serb play the final Grand Slam of the season.

Seth Dillon, CEO and owner of the Babylon Bee, famous for its satirical news pieces on various topics like religion, politics, current affairs and public figures, took a dig through a tweet at the latest policy of the US Open and the US government over the situation of Djokovic at the moment. As things stand, unvaccinated foreigners cannot enter the USA however, unvaccinated American players and fans can attend the US Open which is expected to have full capacity for this year’s events.

“The vaccine will protect you from the thousands of unvaccinated fans attending the U.S. Open this year. But if Djokovic plays, you will die.” — Science,” tweeted Dillon receiving a lot of replies with some showing support towards his idea while others backing the government for the policy in place.
