“If there was something against rules, he’d be caught” Patrick McEnroe believes Rafael Nadal’s doping conspiracy theories are hoax

Patrick McEnroe and Rafael Nadal

Patrick McEnroe the former American Pro has come out with his take on Rafael Nadal‘s doping theories. Many people have said that with Nadal injecting his left foot for many matches to play through the pain caused by the chronic foot disease, he could easily be doping. Though not many people have the same opinion because the injections used by Rafa are actually checked before.

Many people including the director of WADA have come out to defend Nadal against these false accusations. Nadal is a great champion and for his extremely high profile in tennis and his iconic stature in sports, it would be very hard for him to do something like that without it being known to the media. Also with all the doping checks on the players, he would be easily caught.

McEnroe reasoned: “So Nadal goes on to win. I don’t know how he does it, he said he took some painkilling injections. I’m no Doctor, I don’t know exactly what they are. People, you know, there are conspiracy theorists now coming out in the tennis world. There’s one conspiracy that Nadal is doping, he’s taking some sort of drug. Look, they test him all the time at the majors and whatever they’re putting in his ankle, I think it’s just a painkiller. Again, I’m not a doctor, I don’t know exactly what it is, but if it was something that was against the rules he’d be caught.”

Rafael Nadal has undergone a radiofrequency treatment to sever the nerves which carry pain signals so that he would never have to play with injections in his foot. With the effectiveness of the treatment, it also seems likely that Nadal would most likely be playing at the Wimbledon 2022, where for the first time he has a shot at the Calendar Grand Slam.
