Novak Djokovic, undoubtedly one of the greatest athletes of all time chance of participation in the US Open was much in a debate over his vaccination status. He remains to be unvaccinated with the intention of not getting the vaccination soon and has been firm on his stance. As per the guidelines to enter New York, he needs to get vaccinated in order to play at the US Open 2022 and his chances looked minimal. But the Serbian was hopeful for some sort of exceptions to have been made since he was allowed to participate at the US Open in 2021.
But as per the latest reports, it is officially confirmed that he will miss participating in the US Open and Djokovic himself has shared on his social media account updating his fans about his withdrawal and even expressed his sadness about missing out on participating in another Grand Slam event after the Australian Open. It is a major hindrance in his quest for winning another Grand Slam and a missed opportunity to equalling Rafael Nadal‘s record of the most number of singles Grand Slam titles.
The 2022 Wimbledon champion ‘unvaccinated‘ status has been most talked about after he was deported from Australia even after entering the country to play at the Australian Open where he could not get a chance to even defend his title. Djokovic will likely have a drop in his rankings since he was the finalist at US Open in 2021 losing to Daniil Medvedev.

Djokovic‘s withdrawal from the US Open has created a stir among the tennis fraternity as he was one of the favorites at Flushing Meadows. His withdrawal announcement just before the US Open final draw was announced has left mixed emotions among the fans. While some tennis fans expressed their anger and criticized the Serbian’s selfish action of not getting vaccinated which led him to miss another Grand Slam event while some expressed their sadness on finding his withdrawal announcement.
