Coach Tomasz Wiktorowski and Iga Swiatek received Polish sports award
Iga Swiatek is the story of the 2022 season. She took the WTA season in 2022 by storm and dominated until the end of the year. She won 8 titles including French Open 2022 and the US Open 2022. Nobody could come close to her. But her most important contribution is that she helped to put Poland on the Tennis World map.
Hence, she is rewarded for her efforts. Recently, she was honored with the Polish Sports Personality of the Year for 2022 award. This award is given every year by Polish newspaper Przegląd Sportowy. The readers of this newspaper vote for the winner.
Eminent journalist Michal Samulski shared this news on social media.
Interestingly, Iga Swiatek is voted ahead of motorcycle racer Bartosz Zmarzlik and superstar footballer Robert Lewandowski in this poll. Also, her coach Tomasz Wiktorowski recieved Coach of the Year award.
Iga Swiatek’s chances at the Australian Open 2023

After winning two Grand Slam titles last year, Iga Swiatek is ready to show off her prowess in the first Grand Slam of the year. Recently, she participated in the United Cup 2023 with Hubert Hurkacz and other Polish players for Team Poland. The team had a magnificent run at the tournament until they lost their semi-final round match against Team USA 5-0. However, her performances in the mixed-gender format competition must have given her a lot of confidence.
As both Serena Williams and Ash Barty retired last year, Iga Swiatek is now the favorite to win the 2023 Australian Open. However, her loss against Jessica Pegula in the United Cup came as a shock for all her fans and even the tennis community. She must be wary of such possible upsets in the upcoming Australian Open 2023. World No.2 Ons Jabeur and World No.5 Aryna Sabalenka would be ready to pounce on any of her weaknesses.
Also, after winning the 2022 WTA Finals, Caroline Garcia is pumped up to make the most of the 2023 season. She would look like to register her name in history books by winning the Australian Open 2023 women’s singles title. Coco Gauff played a glorious Championship match at the 2022 French Open against Iga Swiatek. However, she could not win it, but she will be ready to make the upset and knock the Pole out of the competition.
Iga Swiatek would want this year to be as memorable as last year. She can start it on a triumphant note winning the Grand Slam Down Under.
