Iga Swiatek’s coach Tomasz Wiktorowski named 2023 WTA Coach of the Year after another successful season for the Pole

With the end of 2023, the WTA is all set to announce the best performers of the season as it does every year. From December 11 to December 15, the WTA will announce and honor the best players, the best coach, the best tournaments, and all such athletes who have performed exceptionally at the WTA Tour levels,
Iga Swiatek‘s coach Tomasz Wiktorowski has been voted for the 2023 WTA Coach of the Year award. The WTA has recognized Wiktorowski’s contribution in making the dominant player she is. The partnership between Swiatek and Wiktorowski faced tough challenges throughout the season.
Though, Swiatek had an amazing year. However, there was also a rough phase for Swiatek in 2023 when she also lost her World No.1 rankings. However, their partnership fought through the tough tide to achieve world No.1 rankings by the end of the season.
The partnership of Wiktorowski and Swiatek had achieved a lot together. Not just this year, ever since Wiktorowski became Swiatek’s coach, she has not looked back. From winning the 2022 French Open and the US Open and coming back this year to successfully defend it needs a lot of dedication from the player as well as the support staff.

Both Swiatek and Wiktorowski have won accolades at the WTA Awards. While Swiatek won the WTA Player of the Year, her coach Wiktorowski won the WTA Coach of the Year. This is a testament to the hard work they both have done.
Swiatek’s 2023 saw her winning six titles, including the French Open at the Rolland Garros and a maiden WTA Tour Finals. Wiktorowski coached Swiatek to an unbeaten finish at the BNP Paribas Open. This unbeaten stint of Swiatek also helped her to finish the year as World No.1.

Besides, Swiatek and Wiktorowski, Storm Hunter and Elise Mertens have won the ‘Doubles Team of the Year’, although it’s their first season together. Zheng Qinwen has won the ‘Most Improved Player of the Year’ while Elina Svitolina has won the Comeback Player of the Year. Svitolina came back from maternity leave from tennis and came back to reach the quarterfinals of the French Open as well as the semifinals of the Wimbledon.
