World No.1 women’s tennis player Iga Swiatek has confessed that she, like many others, is a big fan of the elite rivalry between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz. The two players have played three high-intensity matches so far this year. While the Wimbledon final was played for almost five hours, Alcaraz and Djokovic played a three-set thriller at the Cincinnati Masters final which lasted for 3 hours and 49 minutes.

Both these games attracted a lot of viewership and Iga Swiatek has confessed that she also watched these games from start to end. The world no.1 has also revealed that she is a fan of this rivalry between the young Spaniard and the seasoned Serbian. Swiatek also heaped special praise on Carlos Alcaraz for saving match points at the Cincinnati Masters final.

“Yeah, they are always really exciting, and you see, you know, the clash of, like, two generations. Well, I don’t know. They’re just so solid and good. They don’t give each other points for free. It’s amazing how they can keep the intensity from the beginning till the end,” said Swiatek after the second-round match at the 2023 US Open.

The no.1 women’s tennis player also accepted that it will be almost impossible for her to match the level of these two players. “I’m just watching them as a fan, you know, because I know that most of the stress they are playing it would be impossible for me to play (smiling). I can learn obviously, like, from how they behave and, like, mentally how they never give up.”

Can Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic produce another thrilling game of tennis?

While fans as well as Iga Swiatek are still not over the epic matches played by Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz, the two highly-skilled players stand a chance to produce another thrilling game of tennis at the 2023 US Open. Djokovic and Alcaraz can meet in the 2023 US Open final and settle the debate, for at least this year.

The two players have met four times on the tour so far, winning two games each. While Djokovic won the French Open semifinal and Cincinnati Masters final, the young Spaniard took down the 23-time Grand Slam winner in the Madrid Open semifinal and the 2023 Wimbledon final.

The Grand Slam head-to-head score also remains leveled at 1-1. Now, with a chance of the two players meeting in the 2023 US Open final, either of them can take the lead.
