Polish World No.1 Iga Swiatek gets the deserved respect from social media for not bashing her opponents on questions dis-crediting them as Swiatak has moved to the fourth round in some dominant fashion dispatching the unseeded Chinese player Wang Xinyu in the third round: 6-0, 6-0.

As a reporter asked how you are planning to make the “bagel factory” more successful citing the massive number of bagels (winning a set by 6-0) she has compared to other players, Swiatek gave a strong reply, “I don’t really want to talk about that. From a player’s point of view, I have to be respectful to my opponents. Sometimes it is not easy to play matches like that for the opponents. I don’t want to talk about the factory. I just want to focus on my tennis with all due respect to my opponents.”

The way she handled the “clueless” question from the report had praise from Tennis Twitter. A fan page wrote, ” These questions need to stop! These journalists are clueless and disrespectful. Iga’s answer was great tho.” Many wrote “Great response” and fan pages lauded her for the kind answer despite being angry inside.

Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:

The Polish World No. 1 Iga Siwatek looks in fine form to retain her French Open crown, as she is yet to be tested in the Parisian clay. She dominated all three of her past three rounds, beguiling at least each of her opponents in the first two rounds and then double-beguiling in the third round. Wang Xinyu, her third-round opponent, was not even able to get into one break point chance as she crumbled down by winning just 17 points in total against the Polish’s 50.

If Swiatek can outlast the unseeded Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko in the fourth round, she will be facing the American teen sensation Coco Gauff in the quarter-finals. Considering the form and fitness of the Polish, the fourth-round clash with the Ukrainian must not be super difficult for her.

With Elena Rybakina whom against which Swiatek lost in the Rome masters quarter-finals and was expected to meet in the semi-finals here, withdrawn from the tournament, the only major threat left will be Aryna Sabalenka, the reigning Australian Open champion.
