Polish top seed Iga Swiatek took on World No.5 Jessica Pegula in the last match of the season, the title decider at the WTA Finals in Cancun. The Pole demolished the 29-year-old Pegula in straight sets to claim her second title as the World No.2. With her latest win, however, Swiatek has re-established herself at the top of the WTA rankings list.

Seeded at No.2 in the season-ending finale, Swiatek thrashed Korea Open winner, scoring 6-1, 6-0 over a two-setter. Swiatek appeared to be in excellent form in her latest match as she made only 6 unforced errors compared to 23 by her American opponent. With her powerful groundstrokes, the Pole gave Pegula only one opportunity to convert a break point over the entire 59-minute ordeal.
