Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula
Iga Swiatek is delighted after winning the Quarter-final match in the San Diego Open. She was fantastic last evening when she defeated Coco Gauff 6-0 6-3. The World No.1 will play against another American, World No.4 Jessica Pegula in the Semi-final match of the San Diego Open 2022.
The Polish star is looking to clinch her 8th career title this year. She is in red-hot form and the way she just evaporated the challenge of the World No.6 18-year-old Gauff in the last match, it is expected that she will easily win the match and advance into the final.
However, Iga was modest after winning the match. She wasn’t cocky and in a recent talk post her Quarter-final heroics, she believes that Jessica will be a great challenge for her.
“Swiatek: Jessie is one of the most solid players on tour. It’s always hard. Our matches are always physical & tight. Though the scores are one way, we always have deuces, any point can matter. I’m happy we’ll play b/c it’s a test where my level is b/c she’s really, really solid,” she said.

Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula have played against each other three times this year. Iga won on all three occasions. However, they were all tough matches. Iga had to bring out the best in her to win against Pegula.
In the ongoing San Diego Open, Pegula has shown some marvelous skills. She defeated fellow American Madison Keys 6-4 7-5. This is the fourth time, both will play against each other.
Hence, World No.1 is not underestimating the American at all. She expects this match to be like their previous encounters physically demanding. However, her fans do not agree with her. Fans on Twitter think that Iga Swiatek will prevail over the World No.4 and beat her easily.
