Iga Swiatek was determined to turn her emotions into hard work after an early exit at the US Open. The 22-year-old reveals that her new training method has helped her along the way. It was evident in her fifth title run at the recently concluded China Open. She is now in pursuit of another championship title at the WTA Finals.
Swiatek’s tenacity and dedication to her craft have been visible in recent performances. She has admitted that she prioritized the basic training and techniques of tennis. Her hard work did not yield positive results in the beginning but she persevered anyway. However, it has finally started to pay off as she had been in spectacular form in the tournament in Beijing.
The world No.2 will likely go back to her training routine as she has her eyes set on the WTA Finals title.
In a press conference, the Pole said, “I’m really happy that I just focused on hard work. It paid off — maybe not instantly — but I’m happy that after the US Open, I just got back to basics and worked really hard tennis-wise. I’ll just continue to do that.”
Swiatek has come to accept that the road to success is paved with hard work, determination, and constant growth.
Iga Swiatek prepares for the WTA Finals
Iga Swiatek is one of the eight women who have qualified for the WTA Finals. The event will take place from October 29 to November 5 in Cancun, Mexico. The former World No.1 has clearly proclaimed her desire to win the title. She is feeling more confident after her victory at the China Open.

The world No.2 will be taking just one day to celebrate her monumental 16th career title win. After that, she will go back to focusing on adding another title to her bag.
The Polish star said, “Today is about a celebration. But he told me when I’m going to be back at work. Yeah, it’s not a long time for me to have rest at this point ’cause, for sure, Cancun is a really important tournament. I want to get ready and also kind of continue the work I’ve been doing after the US Open in terms of technique and what I want to improve on court.”
She acknowledges that she doesn’t have much time to recover as the WTA Finals is an important tournament. Swiatek is keen to prepare for this competition and build on her growth since the US Open, particularly in terms of her tennis skills.
