Young Polish sensation, Iga Swiatek is one of the rising stars of Women’s tennis. In recent times, she has made many headlines with her tennis, and after finishing the second consecutive season as World No. 1, the Polish star chose her next Grand Slam target.
Recently, Swiatek did a Q&A session on her Instagram, where she answered her fan’s questions. She was asked which was the Grand Slam she would love to win next as she had already won the French Open and the US Open.
“AO not only because it’s the first one but I have a feeling my game suits the that court and it would be easier for me to win this than Wimbledon,”answered Swiatek.
She expressed her enthusiasm and confidence in the courts of Australia and looks to have a flying start to the year by winning the first Grand Slam of the year.
Iga Swiatek has not had any luck so far at the Australian Open but believes that she has a better chance here than at Wimbledon. Earlier this year, Swiatek had a better run at Wimbledon than at the Australian Open. With the Australian Open only a couple of months away, players are eyeing the trophy and starting their year with a huge win.
Iga Swiatek’s record at the Grand Slams
World number 1 Iga Swiatek has an iconic record at the Grand Slams. She started her Grand Slam run at the age of 17 and the very next year, the Pole managed to win her first-ever Grand Slam. Since then, she has had an exceptional record at the French Open with 3 titles in 5 years.
Other than the French Open, Swiatek has not had much luck in other tournaments. At Wimbledon, the 22-year-old has also not had a great run but last year, she reached the quarterfinals before losing to Elina Svitolina. At the Australian Open, her best run has been reaching the semis in 2022, others were all early exits.
Other than this, Swiatek managed to win at the US Open in 2022 and lost in the Round of 16 this year. The Pole has managed to do equally well at the Australian Open but the results are not the same. She has agreed to struggle in the courts of Australia and hopefully do well in the upcoming year. Only time will tell if the Pole can flip the scripts and have a winning run at the season-opening championship that sets the tone for the year to follow.
